A Horse Called Ambition is mostly set in the beautiful landscape of Devon which creates an
atmospheric backdrop for three friends who share a passion for horses.

Looking in on stables with horses in the field from the outside seems an idyllic English scene,
but Rachel takes us right into a compelling story of three friends, a world of relationships –
turmoil, betrayal, confusion and family intrigues. Against the pull of daily life of living with
horses we discover the dedication and strength of character needed to pursue
uncontrollable events which takes over the three friends lives.

Rachel draws on her knowledge to present some memorable images and moments, scenes
at the horse sales made me cry, other scenes made me tense or laugh out loud. The story
develops at a pace easy to keep up with. You don’t need to be a ‘horsey person’ to enjoy
this book; the language is natural and flows from page to page. Indeed I was surprised by
the length of the novel, perhaps because I was so involved with the story and the
characters.

The novel has some great reviews on Amazon
